Christploitation films have been made since the earliest days of cinema. These films are generally produced with the aim of helping Christians better understand Christianity and strengthen their faith, or to spread Christianity among non-Christians. Some of these films marginalize non-Christians. They often feature various cults and myths. Additionally, in many of them, stories containing religious references are woven into either the entire narrative or a portion of it. Over time, some Christploitation films began to criticize—and even mock—their predecessors. This led to the emergence of comedy Christploitation films.
