Eschploitation films are those that attempt to depict the end times. In films where the apocalypse and religious exploitation occur simultaneously, the characteristic features of the Christploitation genre begin to come to the fore. Similarly, if the apocalypse is portrayed as nature’s revenge following a human-caused crisis, the characteristics of the “Nature-run-amok” subgenre become more pronounced. Films produced under the eschploitation genre; have seen increased demand following the widespread adoption of video recording methods—which allow natural disasters to be viewed by all of humanity—the growing clarity of the foreseeable consequences of global warming, and the rise in both knowledge and unknowns regarding space science. As CGI technology has become more affordable and widespread, the costs of Eschploitation films have decreased while their numbers have increased.
