The films’ connection to the criminal underworld is even stronger than one might expect. Like the songs in question, these films also have connections to real-life drug lords. The films sometimes recount real events, while at other times they manipulate the facts. Famous narco-corrido singers sometimes appear in the films. It is rumored that the films are partially or entirely financed by drug lords.
