Summary
In the gothic and decaying streets of London, the world of Alex DeLarge—who spreads terror alongside his gang—is enveloped by Beethoven’s symphonies and the sounds of Beethoven’s music. In this science-fiction nightmare by Stanley Kubrick, woven with dystopian and dark humor, extreme violence becomes the sole law of the street. The state’s brutal methods, which eliminate individual will in the name of maintaining public order, drive the concepts of crime and punishment into a dark impasse. Unfolding with mischievous mockery against the backdrop of Britain’s gloomy atmosphere, this system paints the harshest portrait of a decaying society and authority.
