Daisato, who lives alone in one of Tokyo’s run-down houses, transforms into a 100-foot-tall giant to protect Japan from grotesque monsters. But in this bizarre sci-fi universe, the real challenge isn’t battling colossal monsters; it’s dealing with noise complaints from neighbors and managing family crises. Directed by Hitoshi Matsumoto, the film reduces the superhero myth to the mundane and exhausting routine of an ordinary man. As Daisato struggles to carry the burden on his back, the destruction he leaves in the streets and the agents chasing after him make his life a little more unbearable with each passing day.
