Summary
In a gloomy room of a vast mansion, a mother-of-pearl snow globe falls to the floor with the last breath between one’s fingers. Orson Welles’s camera descends like a dark shadow over the vast emptiness lurking behind the splendor. The mysterious last words left behind by media mogul Charles Foster Kane lead journalists to search for the truth in dusty archives and faded memories. Bringing to the screen the cracks beneath the American Dream and the lust for power through the sharp contrasts of black-and-white tones, the film lays bare the wreckage of a tragic life. Spanning from the massive mansion in Florida to snowy childhood days, this mystery and drama lays bare, with a dispassionate eye, how a person can be consumed by what they possess.
