Summary
As the heat of the asphalt mingles with the cold of the metal, that pile of scrap by the side of the highway opens the door not just to a moment of an accident, but to an entirely different desire. Directed by David Cronenberg, this journey of suspense and drama forges a new language at the intersection of body and machine. The eerie pull of traffic accidents drags the characters toward the city’s underground dead ends. Scrap metal and fresh wounds become expressions of repressed urges. Every screech of brakes etches itself into the mind like an eerie whisper echoing through hospital corridors. In these dark streets, where eroticism and destruction are so deeply intertwined—and which pull the viewer out of their comfort zone—the mechanized passions of the modern world are not explicitly revealed, but merely felt.
