In a mansion on the outskirts of Paris, there is a woman in the midst of a crowd, yet completely alien to them. As the famous singer Claire plays with the attention of the men surrounding her as if it were a game, her aloof demeanor weighs heavily on the atmosphere in the ballrooms. The arrival of a young scientist begins to upset the balance. Marcel L’Herbier portrays humanity’s inner coldness and relationships cast in the shadow of technology within an avant-garde dramatic universe.
