Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun

For sixteen-year-old Maria, trapped between stone walls, the outside world has long since faded away. From the outside, the Serra D'Aires monastery appears to be an ordinary refuge. Inside, however, dark ceremonies and satanic cult rituals warp the passage of time. Directed by Jesús Franco, this film weaves the harsh and suffocating fabric of monastic life with elements of erotic suspense. Whispers echoing through the corridors, the secrets the nuns hide, and the sense of foreboding that hangs over the monastery define the film’s atmosphere.
