THEME
Summary
Amid dusty roads and destitute towns, there is a priest who carries his faith not as rigid dogma, but as pure compassion. This drama by Luis Buñuel examines the strange anger and unease that the desire to do good stirs up in people. As Nazarín navigates the poverty and superstitions around him, he is tested by the hypocrisy of ordinary people.
As the dust of the streets settles on the priest’s cassock, the fine line between faith and breath grows ever thinner with every step. Buñuel does not offer the audience easy answers as he examines the concept of morality. We simply witness the solitary journey of a man woven with devotion.
