While murders and deaths are a common occurrence in the poorest streets of Bogotá, there is one routine that has remained unchanged for over fifty years in the basements of this dark landscape. Captured through the lens of Japanese death photographer Kiyotaka Tsurisaki, this documentary points to the final destination of the bodies in the city’s midnight silence. As Froilan Orozco prepares the lifeless bodies arriving at the morgue for burial, he lays bare the raw, unvarnished reality of fear and the aesthetics of death. Without succumbing to the slightest emotional exploitation, the camera records the reality of the flesh and decay on the funeral slab with a detached yet jarring detachment.
