Summary
The peaceful, green landscape of rural Cornwall is slowly poisoned by the gaze of the locals, who put up a wall against outsiders. David, an American academic, and his British wife, Amy, shut themselves away in their home, hoping to build a quiet life in this isolated town. However, in this spiral of suspense and drama directed by Sam Peckinpah, the townspeople’s humiliating harassment escalates exponentially.
Over time, in this rural landscape where boundaries are pushed to the limit, the darkest and most primitive corners of human nature begin to surface. As David’s passive demeanor nears a breaking point under the pressures he faces, the villagers’ brute force transforms into a suffocating atmosphere that descends upon the town.
