Summary
The smell of rust and that inevitable moment when metal meets flesh transform into a dark cyberpunk nightmare through Shinya Tsukamoto’s lens. The shrill sounds echoing through the streets and the black-and-white imagery bring the modern human’s trial by steel to the screen in its rawest form. A man going about his routine after an ordinary workday realizes his body is transforming from the inside out into a mass of iron. This bizarre transformation is a sickening cycle triggered by a grotesque obsession that gnaws at both his mind and flesh simultaneously. This industrial storm, straddling the boundaries of horror and science fiction, plunges the viewer into the very heart of a harsh and merciless dystopia. In this world where metal pierces flesh, escape means only sinking deeper.
