A neon-lit California beach town in the ’80s takes on a different look after the sun goes down. The older of two siblings—who, along with their divorced mother, have surrendered to this salty air and the amusement park—finds himself at the center of a mysterious street gang roaming the streets at night. Joel Schumacher highlights these blood-sucking nights in this atmosphere of tension and fear, blending youthful rebellion and family ties with neon colors and synth rhythms.
