Summary
In the late nineteenth century, as winds of jealousy blow across the dining table of a lavish German mansion, four suitors who have set their sights on the host’s wife further heighten the tension within the room. In this dark drama by Arthur Robison, which blends elements of the fantastic, a mysterious shadow puppeteer invited into the salon stages a performance that will alter the fate of those at the table.
As the silhouettes on the screen grow larger, the grotesque shadows of German Expressionism begin to dance on the wall. This eerie nightmare presented by the performance is either a harbinger of impending disaster or merely a dangerous game played by the mind.
