10/65: Self-Mutilation

A body covered in white plaster, surrounded by razor blades and surgical instruments. Kurt Kren’s camera freezes the radical performance of Viennese Actionist artist Günter Brus, transforming it into a ritualistic nightmare. Transcending the boundaries of a conventional drama or horror film, this work documents the destruction of the body as if it were a symbolic ritual. Every cut and movement traps the viewer within a tense, ticking temporality.
