Summary
The cold, flawless screens of the future scan the stifling factory corridors of the past. In this short documentary, created to mark the centennial of labor union laws, Chris Marker filters the history of human labor through the lens of a digital memory.
The contradictory hypotheses generated by a computer regarding the future of the labor movement leave us caught between the struggles of the twentieth century and the uncertainty of the twenty-first. In that strange gap where speculative fiction collides with reality, the possible fates of workers are meticulously woven.
