In Los Angeles, an abandoned mansion is transformed into something entirely different by a group of artists in the early 1970s. As the women scrape the walls and rebuild the rooms, they also erase the boundaries between the private and the public. Johanna Demetrakas’s camera, as it traces this radical performance and feminist art experiment, makes the space’s memory and the tension of the creative process palpable.
