Waxworks

Amid the carnival crowd, in a tent surrounded by the cold stares of wax figures, it all begins. The task is simple: a story will be written for each figure there. As the young poet pours the horror behind these dark portraits—taking shape at the tip of his pen—onto the page, he is drawn, along with Eva, the museum owner’s daughter, into a strange adventure where fantasy and reality blur. Wandering through the shadowy streets of German Expressionism and the deepest recesses of the human mind, this anthology masterfully blends elements of fantasy and horror. As the pen moves across the page, the text transforms into an eerie dream sequence stretching from the palace of Harun al-Rashid to the tyranny of Ivan the Terrible and the trap set by Jack the Ripper. The sense of reality slowly fades away.
